I tend to use a new piece each time I clay the car. There's nothin stopping you from keeping it and using it say for the wheels.

Ye I would like to know this also as my brother wants to attack his BMW. But he used his car with pads worn so there is almost rust on the wheels it's that bad, what is the best for this.
Iron-x ! Maybe

clay will help with bonded-on contaminants but iron-x will help with brake dust crap.

My normal way of attacking that would be
1 spray and allow to soil a wheel cleaner
2 jet that down
3 ironx let soils then
4 jet down
4 then clay once all contamiants are off
