Advice on best catch can

Hi all.
Looking into getting one of these soon,
Have had a look through the forum and can't find a comparison review from anyone. is this due to people just sticking to what they know, or can I just not use the search function properly?

All essentially do the same job so it just depends on how much you want to spend for one.

Have seen some on ebay that are only about £20, are they best ignored though, or will they do what I need effectively?

You don't just need the catch can but also the machined plate that replaces the pcv that's correctly machined for attaching the hoses.
The main ones are bsh or Forge (more expensive and looks it plus comes with an external level window).
Without traction power is nothing!

The ones on eBay are non-baffled and wont do anything. If your going to go for any, may as well be the forge. . .

I've had BSH and now have Forge.

I've been running the Forge for just over 2 years now and have grown to like it more and more. I have now perfected my method for removing and emptying the can and I like its quality. It is an expensive product though, but so are most of the better ones.

The American ones tend to be very show orientated but some are high quality too.

The amount of gunk it collects is scary!  :scared:

....That's very debateable (as in my already linked Review). JKM's recent scope'd inspection has led them to believe that a CatchCan has been beneficial to my engine, even if in only a small way. It all contributes and adds up to improved maintenance. Take it or leave it.

I personally can't see the difference between a catchcan and the pcv revamp or even PCV as the oil and gunk just drains back into the engine.

I am lead to believe that the only effective method of stopping the head and valves carbonising is WMI.

would be interesting to hear from more tuners like alex who have worked on many engines with one fitted and one not.

i was not convinced so have not added one yet, just the bsh pcv revamp.

The catch can will catch most of the oil whilst off boost. However when the car is on boost it vents via the rear breather pipe, which goes directly into the compressor housing and through the intercooler etc into the cylinder head. There is nothing stopping the oil when it vents on boost, which was the main reason why I switched back to the oe pcv.

Agree with that...I could not see a catch can being fully beneficial .

So What happens exactly with the BSH PCV Fix, where does the oil and gunk go or does just drain back into the engine?
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

By their very nature the only thing to stop DFI'S gunking up is WMI, nitrous or extra injectors in the inlet manifold say on a  BT car
My demo cars inlet valves are like new (direct port WMI)
All the new DFI Porsches are the same! all gunky in the inlet chambers, other manufactures cars too
I use the BSH PCV blank on the Loba car but it's not ideal, it's ok for reliability reasons but the concern for me is blow back

Stevo why are they more important on a race car?

Are we safely saying no point on a road car?

Even with a remap?

WMI for me soon. It seems like a very logical solution to several key issues.

Al, save your money and get WMI or if you still want one get the forge.

I had  BSH and it was/is sh*t as its designed for cars without the charcoal thingy.
