Edition 30 remap advice required
« on: August 13, 2012, 07:12:21 am »
Hi all,

I bought an edition 30 from a forum member here (horatio), just wanted some advice on remaps. Which is the best one to go for for all round reliability, the car spins a bit in 1st gear as it is so what would be the best remap for it ?

and is Bluefin any good? thanks!!!

APR fully loaded map.

Blufin is said to be a tamer map.

Bluefin is a very good value map. If your not planning going to stage 2+ and on , then it's seriously worth considering.

I'm now more than happy on my Bluefin stage 2 map.. And it'll keep with cars on equal stage with no trouble.

Company's like APR and Revo come into their own in Stage 2+ and on, if your planning to go all out.

Bluefin will transform the car from Stock. just insure they give you the correct Transmision type Remap to avoid any teathing issues.  :happy2:

Can only echo what Steve has said. Bluefin is great up to ST2 but if you want to go any higher then Revo or APR.  :happy2:

(I've had all three so I'm talking from first hand experience)

Another vote for Bluefin here :happy2:

Whilst some say its not an agressive map, I'd personally disagree, Stage 1 transformed my ED30 DSG and you certainly know its been installed. I'm just about to go Stage 2 today, just another £50  now that my my Milltek downpipe is in place. I think this will give around 320 - 325bhp which is more than enough for any front wheel drive car in our moist country.

Like others will say though, if you're after total balls out performance then APR and Revo seem to be kings but for value for money and cheap upgrade potential to a point, Bluefin is hard to knock.

Thanks for all the replies, Im in London

Wheres the best place to purchase the Bluefin from? Think I got my mind made up  :happy2:

Another thing is the car has warranty so where do I stand with the bluefin and warranty, is it easily taken off and reinstalled via the plug in computer they give you just in case I need to send the car in for work?

There are lots of options, Bluefin is a convenient method, but also has the downside of a much tamer power delivery than other alternatives. Also look at using a 'real' tuner as opposed to a generic 1 size fits all option, they will set the car up on the dyno and usually end up with a better final product that is more suited to the car.

I know a few tuners in London that know the TFSi very well and have dyno facilities, feel free to PM me if you want their details.

well if my bluefin is tame as you say, then the other tuners and maps must be totally useless getting the power down  :stupid:

apart from massive torque which most tuners brag about being better, having lesser torque is sometimes as good if not better getting off the mark, without pending endless pots of cash to help try and control whel hop and grip issues.

a stage 2 bluefin car will be as quick down the quarter mile as an equivalent Revo 2 car as an example. Its all pub talk.

Superchips spend as much money as Revo or Apr doing in the R&D.

People automatically dis bluefin for being entherior because it's "not as aggressive " as others. Aggressive isn't always the best policy for the life of certain parts of your car if it's set up to the max.

Sorry for getting on my soap box, but I feel not enough credit falls on Superchips especially with their good and helpful after sales.

I do agree a real tuner like PDT that sets the car up, is also a very good choice, also including company's like R-tech in Hinkley.

but why would you go to a company that does some work on a car then moves on to the next instead of a company who specialise in a type of car

its kind of like saying would you hire a plumber to fix your gas or a general handy man.

jack of all trades master of none?
