LED bulbs causing dash light
« on: September 23, 2021, 10:46:32 pm »
So I fitted some LED number plate bulbs but ever since the dash light bulb icon has stayed on. Looked online and it seems you need to use vagcom to code it out. Does anyone know if this would be possible with Obdeleven? Or a another way round it besides fitting standard bulbs. Cheers

Guess you can just copy the VCDS procedure through OBDeleven, I've recently used the apps to code out seat belt warning, add emergency braking , altered the coming home light timer and all sorts using OBDeleven.

I found this from googling...

'Replaced them with regular bulbs or LED? If LED it needs vcds to disable "pulse width modulation for license plate lights" so it will disregard lower draw LED bulbs.
09 Central Electronics -> Byte 17, bit 7'

Hopefully be easy to find on OBDELEVEN

Hi, this is the menu I have under 09 central electronics - Byte 17

Have also scrolled through but can't see anything relating to the command I posted above..

Anyone know a way around this without using vcds?

Edit: Just found this under apps, but says it for 2011 onwards vehicles :-(

I installed Mk7 LED's recently, despite switching of the check number plates it still was throwing up occasional error - but MOT is looming, law of sod an error will pop up in the test.

Just tried looking for:
09 Central Electronics -> Byte 17, Bit 7

My 2006 Golf stops at Bit 6
To be absolutely sure I am going to revert to filament bulbs in the original bulb holders.
