what did the GIAC boys do to modify the Forge Twintake? I've heard the Twintake can cause airflow problems leading to false MAF readings and pulling timing, particularly with REVO maps. Just interested to see what GIAc have done to get round it...

I don't know exactly, but I believe they at least binned the original filters as they came to the same conclusion about the intake being restrictive.

thanks. im running a stage 2+ revo edition 30, and i think my forge twintake is holding things back. i dont really want to revert back to my carbonio and the standard air box cos that will restrict top end power too.

btw Golf R is looking and sounding great. keep up the good work

I have just revised my GTI Forge Twintake Review under MINUS POINTS to reflect this information.

I would only add that to be fair, I don't think that Stage 2+ software was available when Forge were pre-release testing.

I had stage 2+ on my car when i had the development Octavia ITG kit installed on mine and stage 2+ had been out a while before that.  Pretty sure the twintake was released around the same time as well.

Edit:

Not sure about KO4 software though, which io presume is what you mean by not available.  Forge use the same canisters on their 1.4TSI intake and once you are at Stage 1 they start choking the top end power, so they cant be rated at much more than 200hp.

And he's had that for quite a long time!

Quick update....

Alloys and tyres went on today

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's - Gloss black - 8"x18" - ET45 - 9kg a corner

Tyres fitted

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's - 235/40/18Y - 95XL

A couple of pics - sorry about the dirty car!

Initial impressions are.....

That the steering is definitely improved - feels quicker and a little lighter
The tyres are quieter
The deeper sidewall gives an improved ride quality
The suspension feels quicker to react to undulations and doesn't crash quite as much as before

All in all a successful mod.
Golf R gone.

For the cost of the TD's I think they are one of the best mods, bang for buck. That's why I ran mine on them  :happy2:

Excellent choice John, but you knew the benefits before buying the TD's as you had them on the MK5, i'm also totally fan of these rims now, and currently have 3 sets in the household  :signLOL:

Over the top mod list ;o)
