What about my newnews John?

More info on my build thread but I am loving it.

A lot less 'chavvy' than the full open intakes, and the Twintake, but I also have the open Maxogen for RR days/Trackdays/1/4 mile days.

Not done any of that yet but plans are afoot.

It sounds very OEM John.

Open the window, yes you can hear it.

But inside the car its perfect.

Any idea if there is a power difference between the closed and open intakes?

The Exhaust and intake are the obvious mods that you can't do without.

Your car from what i gather is essentially going to be an alternate route for stage 3 and 3+ guys and its the smaller, more expensive modifications that are going to make all the difference i think.

You have the WMI which is good for a 10-15hp power gain (will you be mapping for it?), but will you be going down the APR cylinder head upgrades.  Seems to have worked wonders on DanGBs and StevePs cars.

Steveps enclosed intake makes that ITG in h4ardy's post look tiny.  If your going this route surely bigger is better?

Presume you will go decat again as well?

Whats your aims.  guessing 450hp ish

I am not sure John and I can't even tell you by logging as my car is MAFing at 200bhp as I have no Map at the moment and also have some issues which need resolving.
Feels like little or no Turbo I have some time this weekend so once I have sorted I'll put both on and update my thread.

I'll be looking at SteveP's thread a lot closer now as I know he has some juicy mods.

Target is a driveable, useable 400WHP if I'm being honest with myself....for starters anyway

John, might it be a good and practical idea for you to create an editable 'index'/summary in your first post like Jake has done? It makes it easier for those looking specifically to find or learn about specifics.

Here's a link to Jake's OP:  http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,7823.msg121569.html#msg121569

Up to you of course, buddy  :happy2:

Have you looked at TEFF's thread for inspiration or does 586bhp not appeal?  :driver:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

All this talk of exhaust notes and no one has mentioned the option of fitting a VR6 in the boot simply for 'sound effect'  :drinking:
