Belated congrats on the Golf R!  I love mine.  Don't fret about the DCC, I liked it better than the standard suspension setting but when I went to proper coil overs, it was just an annoying flashing light that had to be coded out.

Regarding the DSG software, CMD released the flashing tool awhile back so you'll see a lot of remaps available for it soon I'm sure, that's who GIAC uses for their DSG stuff.  I've driven a car with Custom Code's DSG map on it and didn't see anything wrong with it.  Worked well with our Stage 2+.

The GTX2867 on mine makes 400 lb ft and 404bhp and the car is quite fun as you can get the rear end to wiggle a bit and it will drift out of corners in 2nd under hard acceleration.

You will want something done to the DSG or ECU though when you get a bigger turbo on it as it needs a higher launch.  From the dyno's I saw of the loba you might want to ask CC or whoever if they can set it to 4500'ish rpm's for the launch.  I am waiting for the boys back home to set mine to 4k but they are doing it on the ECU side.

CC had the rev limiter and shift point set to 7400 which is good for a bt but I would ask for just a touch less, maybe 7100 or 7200 as our race cars have buzzed engines with rev limiters at 7300, those are manual transmission cars though and with DSG you can't release the clutch and have your foot on the gas creating a mechanical over rev like you can with a MT so it may not be that much of a concern.

It will be nice to see how yours does, will you be going to the Pod with it?  I didn't feel my 12.2 was anything spectacular, a little better than expected but without DSG software or any spin on the launch.  A little bit of spin is good.  My 60' was 1.8x so you should be able to shorten that a bit with a slightly higher launch on the k04.  I've driven HPA DSG mapped cars that launch at 4k on the K04 and with a pbox on the street we were seeing 1.7x 60's.

The DSG hasn't complained much with that power but I suspect the dual mass flywheel is going to let go at some point.  The Stage IV Golf R in Australia lost the DMF at ~500bhp after a a few launches and track days.

The only reliability issue I've experienced was a failed AC compressor a couple of hundred miles ago, I'm at 50k miles now.

The Haldex controller makes a HUGE difference on the circuit so you might want to look at that soon.  It significantly changed the ability of the car to rotate with throttle application and allowed me to fix a lot more mistakes, lol, when before it was just turn in late and let it understeer out to the curbing.

If we see each around be sure to say hello and I'll let you have a go in my R.

Cheers Keith, that's great information right there. :happy2:

Hmm,

I may play the waiting game then if other DSG maps may be coming out soon. It would be good to get a map straight away, but I want to be sure first.

I'd love a go in the Apr Golf .:R for sure Keith and I'll be visiting various places very soon. I'm sure we will meet up at some point.  8)

What time would a stock R DSG do at the strip?

Dunno, probably about a 14 dead as stock.

Just been out for a play today. The Revo went on down at Statllers and had a little play to get her set up right.

Took the car out with the performance box and using launch control ( oh how I missed it! ) I managed the following. Bear in mind this is JUST a map at stage 1......

APR's car managed 3.5 to 60mph in the damp at Bruntingthorpe with JonnyC at the Helm. So I'd be looking for similar at stage 2+ on normal fuel without WMI or a DSG map.

Also looking at trying to get into the 12's again on the 1/4 mile dash. :happy2:

Stop aiming for straight line speeds. It destroys everything about the car.

Set it up for the track and just use the damn thing!!!!

Anybody looked into Ohlins for the Mk5/6. Thought they did a kit?
