Anybody looked into Ohlins for the Mk5/6. Thought they did a kit?

I know a man who knows a man who I think knows a man

LOL, that sounds like you Dave

John get down to Snetterton next Thursday as there will be a Stage 2+ Golf R DSG on AST's going around for a few laps that might be able to give you some ideas  :driver: :driver:

Hmm, i'll see what I can do.

Stop aiming for straight line speeds. It destroys everything about the car.

Set it up for the track and just use the damn thing!!!!

It is going to be an all-rounder Luke.  :happy2:

Those are amazing figures  :notworthy:

Excuse my ignorance, and apart from the obvious differences such as vehicle weight, aerodynamics and anything else I've forgotten...

Wouldn't a S-Tronic Audi S3 produce the same figures?

I know you've stated that the DSG in the R is different the the Mk5 DSG, where does the S-Tronic fit in?

An S-Tronic would be similar. Not 100% sure if they are 100% the same though.

S-tronic is 'Audi' for DSG. Although i presume there are different versions of that now (i.e dry and wet clutchpacks)

I know that Rich, but when I was looking into getting an S-Tronic S3, even though there were DSG maps available, there weren't any S-Tronic maps available, so there must be some difference

There are two main types of DSG as I understand it, the earlier Mk5's (upto the 09 run out cars like the Pirelli etc) use the older protocol and have plenty of remaps available for them, the newer boxes (Mk6 Golf GTI, Golf R and facelift S-Tronic S3) are on the newer protocol controllers and can be remapped but people like Revo still haven't released anything for them. The options at present for these are from the likes of HPA but as Keith said earlier in the thread this is going to change towards the end of the year with more becoming available.

Thanks for clearing that up Steve,

Do we know what the differences are? If there any any differences, they might be exaggerated post remap!

Being realistic, I doubt any of the differences will effect the end users  :happy2:

George, if you go on Hpa's website it details exactly what each stage of map does to the box, or you can depict with Hpa's directly what you want to achieve from the box. So depending on what you use it for, it can make a hell of a difference. :happy2:

....That's a silly question, John! Of course it does. A black badge hints at the driver being an enthusiast (not that there won't be some much stronger 'hints' soon enough!).

I am reminded of Billy Connolly saying: "F*ck Off!! he hinted"

Never ever de-badge though! It's sacrilege on a VeeDub and says you're a chav. IMO.

You transferring your plate, John?
