Well I'm royally P1ssed off. After phoning JBS and them saying that they would look at the DSG map on Monday, James tried phoning me and then when I phoned him back he said that the problem is that I have Revo on the car and not their own Custom code Phase 2 engine software. That their will be a conflict between their DSG software and the Revo software and only C-C engine software would ensure that the DSG map would ensure that the torque wouldn't be limited. I asked how much their Phase 2 software would be and how much power it would give and they quoted 360bhp and 350lbft, so is it even worth changing for that as I'm getting a solid 320lbft and 365bhp already. I have had C-C software at phase 2 and it isn't the strongest map on the block, so I don't want to go splunking another £600 for a product that I've had before and wasn't that strong.
To be honest the map is decent, but isn't as promised. on their own website it says......
"Custom-Code DSG Phase 2 software is aimed at drivers who demand the most from their cars. With the Phase 2 DSG software aimed at cars with more significant hardware modifications; Performance exhausts, supercharger and turbo upgrades and delivers an exhilarating experience when combined with our Phase 2 or 3 ECU software, with fully custom settings for launch control, torque settings and enhanced shift points to suit your vehicle set up."
Now when I went to Midland VW, they phoned JBS and actually asked if the map would be okay with my software and that the torque limiter would be uprated to the 550nm and Kevin at JBS said to Chris at MVW that it would be, which now isn't the case.
James at JBS initially told me that I should have both maps as they compliment each other and other maps wouldn't work as well, but I was Revo at this stage and so had Chris speak to JBS on my behalf and when Kevin at JBS confirmed that it would work regardless that is when I went ahead.
So, now I'm going to go with GIAC software as it is a true stand alone software, rather than what seems to be a solution based on compromises, which I'm not prepared to work with. I will be asking for a refund as I believe that the software isn't suitable for me and that it isn't as advertised or as I had been told it would work.
I've no doubt that the software may work with C-C's own software well, but it shouldn't be sold on their website as a stand alone solution. it should be on the same web page as their engine map as an add-on, explaining that it will not work fully without the C-C performance engine software.
There is a negative part of me that thinks that the torque limit was deliberately left in there by JBS as an excuse to get me to buy their phase 2 software as I cannot see how the Revo software would "conflict" to re-restrict the DSG torque levels, but I'm sure that is just me being negative.
