I'm wondering though if she's gone bad since Inters, or the Inters runs were good because their equipment isn't accurate

....Santa Pod is officially NHRA approved (National Hot Rod Association of America) whereas Inters isn't.

I was avoiding the water for most of the day until Luke said it actually may help as I was getting too MUCH grip. After that my times dropped by another couple of tents of a second.

Fastest time was a 12.615 and the fastest time with a passenger was a 12.787.

....I'm curious how getting too MUCH grip can ever be a problem?

You must be pleased with the consistency of your times, John  :happy2:

Enjoying watching the progress on this. My friend is currently trying to develop launch control for TFSI's, that would be cool, launching at say 4k but making say 15psi of boost, I bet that that would be fun..

Hurdy, are REVO not willing to make the changes in the Eremap to trick the DSG into thinking the car is making less torque?

Haven't spoken to them about it yet. I think APR does this on their R, so it is possible.

Met Keith yesterday on his flying visit to the Pod. He did a few sub 12 second Runs too in the Stage 3 GolfR. His terminals were around 117mph.

Golf R gone.

Yeah i think his stage 3 setup has shaved 0.6 seconds of his time and netted him a 7mph higher terminal  :surprised:

Was yours full interior?

too much grip can mean you bog down on the launch.

On ve I'd got the hang of it the times were within a tenth of ach other, so very consistent and well pleased Robin.

Too much grip on a 4 we'd launch bogs down the revs, power and spool of the turbo. A little slip at the start enables the revs to stay up, boosts the turbo under load and so gives a cleaner launch. On my first run the car had no grip off the line and I launched it at max rpm's I could. I got a hail of all wheel drive spin and even had to put opposite lock on to steer into the standing drift, as a result the time was poo. you only have to look at the 60' time to see what happened! On the second run I launched with too few revs and the car bogged down, I lost spool and again the 60' was poor and gave a bad time. I thought I'd found the balance by launching and avoiding the wet patches they put down, but later on I discovered that going through the wet actually helped the launch times. In the end I even asked for water to be sprayed on the floor so I could go through it. :happy2:
Golf R gone.

yes I was fully weighed down. Did this deliberately for a benchmark and to give me more to go at later. I knew there was at least a 12.7 in the car with full weight as id done it and knew I'd be happy with that for a starting official time. To get multiple 12.6's was a bit of a bonus. :happy2:

The Racelogic box was very accurate with the official drag strip times, so I'm also pleased that I can depend on that piece of kit in between official runs to gauge my times.
Golf R gone.

John, got the car booked in for the 30th for a full health check.
What are your Revo settings?
TC Garage are saying that my settings (set in summer) may be too conservative, so will give me a winter map if they can't find a boost leak  :chicken:

AXX BWA BYD BHZ CDL etc... if you don't know it it'll be the first 3 letters of your engine number (can find it in your log book)  :happy2:

Cheers Luke!

The R's use the new CDLA code engines...and I have an inkling they're bit more pokier than the old ED30/S3 engines!

But then Jussa has a 2010 S3 should have this engine really forgot mine is a 2010 car too  :signLOL:

Will post this info up when get home this evening  :happy2:

And the video I've done of the R:

It's only the second video I've ever edited using Windows Movie Maker so it's not fantastic!
