I thought with the GIAC maps you had to have a different MAF housing, hence why before people had to use the VF Engineering intake, is that still the case,

if so, you cant really directly compare the MAF reading from an OEM sized MAF housing to a larger MAF housing.

It can take no account of ign or fuel quality however, but on stage 1 remapped cars its pretty close estimation.

It isn't the case Sy. Their stage 2+ equivalent map ( they call stage 2 for some reason ) is a new map based on the OEM MAF housing diameter and developed on their own in-house Golf R, so is directly comparable.  :happy2:

Cheers Alex  whatever the output the car is damn fast and faster than it was on Revo 2+ with smoother, faster changes than on the Custom Code map. I'd love to see what the car would do at the strip now with just the map changes. I've only had chance to use the VBox on one run so far and that showed a significant improvement. I reckon the 6k launch is a little high and GIAC have agreed to lower it a little for me, which I think will make it even faster off the mark.  :driver:

Makes much more sense that they do it this way, otherwise your completely limited on the intakes you can run.  Which intake are you running now?

6k launch might even be to high for a haldex car lol

I'm running an Evoms intake. Worked well on the old Ed30 so knew it would work on the R.

Yeah, 6k launch goes ok, but a 4.5k launch seemed to bite a little better off the line. I can vary the launch revs, but limiting it to say 5k may save the clutch packs from excess wear or overheating.

Time to knock 5kg a corner off the car.

My old favourite, the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's in Gloss Black to match the gloss black detailing on the car.

18 x 8 ET45.

Also sticking with 235/40/18 tyres

LMAO - black 1.2s or the 1.3s were on my shopping list. Good job I have only 3 doors otherwise people might start talking!

On the subject of the Stage 2 map, I'm really, really pleased with it. I've only had GIAC software on the R so no real comparison, but I know it feels way quicker then my Stage 2+ Cupra even on a rolling start.

I think if people can see past the Revo vs APR crap and give GIAC a go they're not going to be disappointed. They certainly seem to do ok for themselves in the US.

I think the problem with GIAC is a lack of support in the UK.

Seems to be. Just needs a good run to get the zorst really hot again, but all seems good so far. Thanks for getting it back in to have a look. Knew the Vino bribe would pay dividends!

I'll grab your VBox and get some launch practise in. The sound of the Milly under WOT is addictive...
