Oh, and I'd love to see that graph compared to say an Evo VIII / IX tuned to 400bhp. With the ease you can release power from the 2.0TFSI and platforms as good as the Golf R / Audi S3 I think "upgrading" to an Evo from a Golf is getting harder and harder to justify.

Iirc that evo suffered from terrible turbo lag bet the R is much nicer in that respect.
Your times are even more impressive when you consider your power to weight is quite a bit off the fq400

You picked up on both the things that make the R a better daily and more responsive car there. :happy2:

The R has more torque at 2.5krpm than the Evo has peak and the R keeps over 350lbft to just under 6krpm, so no way is the R laggy.

The power to weight deficit is purely combatted by the DSG, which the EVO simply cannot match.
Golf R gone.

Isn't the FQ400 over 1450kgs (not a million miles less than the Golf R) though? Also, don't forget that the Evo is a trusty manual too..

Thanks for that John, really shows what an animal your car is now.

I'd be interested to compare it against a tuned FQ MR 320/340 tuned to 400 (IIRC they have a smaller turbo than the FQ400)

Just shows how much of a better proposition a tuned R is over an Evo. They used to be the only way to keep up with a super car for under £30k, obviously not any more! Oh, and I know which one I'd rather have, and it would be the one that kept it's money, returned good mpg, didn't require servicing every 3500 miles or randomly kill transfer boxes / diffs  :happy2:

Yes, that is why I had to swap to a 3" MAF. The GIAC software scales the MAF reading for it to work. :happy2:
