Do you think you're running very close to the OE limit of the DSG box now??

Probably beyond its OE limit. It has done over a thousand launches, several hundred dragstrip runs and hundreds of dyno pulls and all in the search for speed and power. More than 99.9% or DSG cars will do in their lifetime. That is why I am upgrading mine before Inters.  Along with a few more power mods.

Interestingly, you're times for distance or speeds are with a full interior. How much time would you gain by stripping your car down do you think? Worth a few tenths or more?

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Every 100 lbs out of the car is worth roughly 0.1 on the strip. When the car stops making more power then I will think about stripping weight out, until then the interior stays in.  :happy2:

Plenty more to do. As previously mentioned, power mods, engine and DSG upgrades, weight saving, fine tuning.

What are you having done? Or is it a surprise?

No surprise, just boring stuff like upgrade DSG Clutchpacks, strengthened modified throttle valve, new Turbosmart dual BOV and recirc valve, rear brake colour coded to front and 335mm discs, air con repair and a detail.

I only mentioned stripping the car as I gutted the back seats in my GTI in preparation for new ones and realised how much weight they add. Coupled with carpets, trim and other bits must be 0.5 seconds worth if totally stripped.

Yes, I'm there for the weekend Ben. I will be down at Statller on Monday morning, dropping the car off for the revisions to be done. Don't think I will be there by lunchtime though as I'm on afternoons at work.

New clutch packs before inters??

Will they need bedding in before the strip to get the best launches? I suppose you could put an a couple of hours aside in the week to do a couple of hundred launches  :signLOL:

Yes, something that theoretically could put a spanner in the works, but should be fine. I'll just take each off ramp on the M1 and do a full launch back onto the M1 all the way down.   "Joke"

Can you take some pics of the OE clutch packs when it's opened up for the upgrade think many would like to see how they look after they've been Hurdy'd over the last 2 years?   :happy2:
