Cam Follower

I'm working slowly but surely to ensure my MY07 car is mechanically as perfect as possible before I go Stage 1. To this effect I'd be grateful if any of you who have changed out their follower (on a BWA engine, MY07 if possible) please advise:

a) What mileage you did it at?
b) What state the follower was in?
c) What revision cam was fitted?
d) How often you subsequently check/replace this item?

I have 42k on the clock and am trying to get a feeling as to whether I should change out my follower sooner rather than later. Trawling the net has been incredibly inconclusive.

I've changed them on 2 cars at 90k both were fine with plenty of life left, both were the later rev cam (is it B?).
I'm changing mine around 15-20k now as I have an APR fuel pump.
Mk2 Octavia vRS with K04 conversion, 3"TBE & Decat, APR HPFP, BDM Intake, S3 I/C, Sachs clutch & Unicorn custom map, S3 brakes, AP coilovers, THS mounts.

B8.5 Audi S4 with uprated pulley and unicorn Stage 2

As mine is modified i ensure mine is changed yearly. Never really that bad but better safe than sorry for the sake of a few quid :happy2:

Any pics of what it looks like? Is it easy to replace?

Mines done 100K and the cam follower is looking fine.  I check it every year just as a precaution.

It looks relatively straightforward, however MJR had a nightmare:

Replaced mine last week. Ed30 with 36k, the old one looked brand new. Not a mark on it :smiley:

I had to change the fuel pump o ring due to an oil leak so ordered a new cam follower at the same time. Looked fine but changed it anyway while the pump was out. Mines on 52k with an APR PUMP

They dont seem to wear as quickly with the standard fuel pump internals than the likes of autotech as they are a harder metal so wear out quicker on modified internals, like i said , for what they cost, may as well change it. :happy2:
