Do you know the version number, it's on the underside of the coil pack.If you are lucky, you may be able to have them replaced FOC by VW if you're in the coil pack recall group so ring your VW service department and ask before buying.
Yup, your coilpacks if unchanged will be a few revisions behind the latest version. You can get the red ECS ones from http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk5/red-ignition-coil-pack-set-2-0tfsiRemoving the coil packs if you have the engine cover off is quite easy and needs no special tools.
how do the coilpacks come off?
They are really easy to get out Dom - won't cause you any drama at all

Hi Peeps,My coilpacks have the production date of 10/06... My car is in for a service on the 8th September, is it worth updating them...Ideally I'd like the red ones, i will search for the part number unless anyone has to hand?Cheers,Dom
