Engine trouble...
« on: June 04, 2009, 05:56:46 pm »
Since being in for it service and aircon sorting out I have noticed a wierd noise. When your accelerating and then let off it seems to make a loud vibrating noise, only happens every now and then.

Bit hard to explain really without hearing it for yourselves. Could it be to do with my big fan coming on all the time which was supposedly fixed when the Aircon sensor was changed.

They may not have put the engine cover back properly? Worth checking as they are a bitch to get back on!  :happy2:

I never had a problem putting the cover back on but maybe one of the grommets is absent i.e lost or perished...

I will check but seems far too loud to be that, also suffer a bit of vibration through the gear stick and pedals.

Now seem to have the constant buzzing sound and vibrations when in motion now

Also popped itself out of first gear when waiting at traffic lights tonight. Wierd.

Its sounds like one of your engine mounts has failed to me.

Did they have to do any major work under the bonnet?  It could be an error of theirs, or it could be pure coincidence...hard to tell without hearing the sound.

Good luck getting it sorted

They did a service and fixed my aircon, although I did have a new engine 6600 miles ago so dont know if anything was damaged fitting that and just got worse as its gone on.

It does sound like the revs drop when ticking over like its trying to stall. Not so bad that its almost stalling just the sound...if that makes sense.

The gearbox won't stop it idling, that's controlled by the ECU.

Is it still under warranty?  If mine was doing it, I'd be driving it to a specialist.

It'll probably be one of these gromits - the cars 08 and old have plastice ones which fail with the heat cycles
The replacement and newer cars come with rubber versions which are better

Don't judge me by your ability !
