^^ Yeah sorry fella I wasn't 100% clear but indeed, clutch down, 1st gear engaged and you can sit foot flat and lift the clutch when you're ready.
I'm assuming it's an ECU engine protection thing, makes sense to me but also has that added advantage for launch. I may end up using it very often now
One of the bosses 4.2FSI R8 Spyders' at work does this but up to 4.5k revs if I remember in all gears, until the ECU judges the engine to be warm. When he took me out in it he was driving it hard from cold and I thought his gear changes were awful
, but he explained it bounces you back from the rev limit (around 4.5k, I forget now...) so you can't hammer the cold engine to point of instant damage.
