RCD 510 & DAB
« on: June 06, 2009, 08:34:57 pm »
I used to have DAB in my mk3 and its the only thing thats missing from my mk5 to make it 100% perfect.

Ideally I would like to keep it all OEM.  Can anyone confirm that all RCD 510 have the required HW and SW needed to recieve DAB radio or does it require a separte module and/or ariel?  In addition can all RCD 510 play mp3 cd's and will the factory fitted ipod prep that currently connect to my rcd300 still work?

Sorry about the lack of stucture to my post.

thanks in advance

Rob

I am not 100% sure but I believe there are two versions of the physical headunit, one with the built-in DAB and one without.

All RCD-510 will be able to play MP3's unlike the older RCD-300 and 500 models.

I was reading on another forum that these new RCD #10 are a nightmare to install into MK5s.  The guy ended up putting his unit back on eBay.

Its worth finding out the pinout differences between your standard unit and the RCD 510 to see how hard it is to install.
