It doesn't smoke on startup or idle, just when pulling off from idle. But I might change them anyway.

Ok, so it's burning oil, not water, my mechanic isn't sure what it can be at this stage, Turbo is only about 15 months old and i've not ragged it or done more than 10k.

any ideas?

update, my mech fears it could be the Turbo, if the warranty company that replaced it in feb 2011 authorised a genuine one then it should have a 2 year warranty, but AMD (who did the warranty work) can't find out until they know who they invoiced etc. and i don't have a clue.  what a nightmare as i binned all my old out of date paperwork.

Anyway, he said the oil is dirty and needs changing so he is going to flush it all through, change the filter and go from there and maybe it's just an O ring or something.  Looks like it needs a new starter motor too.  Oh well, it's been pretty solid until now so thats not bad for 18 moths of driving.

The oil is getting passed the seals on the turbo shaft and going into the exhaust causing the0 smoke

After what feels like months, but in reality 10 days, I should be getting my car back today.

It looks like it was something to do with the injector seals leaking oil into the fuel, my mechanic drained the tank and said it was black!!  He has replaced all of them and cleaned the whole system out and said its a lot better but said there will be a little residual oil left and will take a few tanks of fuel to clear it out completely.

At least it wasn't the turbo!!

I've just picked it up and it's still smoking, hopefully this is just residual oil left in some of the pipes and the intercooler, my mechanic isn't 100% sure that it's fixed but he thinks that after a few tanks of fuel it should stop.  He showed me how black the fuel was that was removed, the tank has been flushed, filter changed etc. I just feel so pissed off that I have spent almost £700 and it's not perfect.  I really do trust him and he only charged me for half the labour but he said it could still be the rocker cover, the fuel pump or maybe the turbo but unlikely.

I hate cars sometimes, if I have to spend more to fix it then I will likely sell it once it's done just to pay off the debt and by a runabout.

I really am getting fed up now.  No improvements and if not a bit worse.  Still lots of smoke and it feels down on power.  My mechanic doesn't think it's the turbo because there was so much oil in the fuel.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?

No, it's more white/grey.  Had the injector seals done and the glow plugs.  He thinks it's the rocker cover, fuel pump or turbo. but who funking knows!!!, I'm about ready to dump it in the Thames.

White grey suggest water, but you say this is not changed... this is a diesel right?

Is it worth putting a standard map back on?

100% Oil, it was coating everything, even the fuel was black when they drained it and it stinks.  Car feels under powered, can't see why the map would cause this after 18 months.

Yes, 140 Tdi, mapped by AMD to about 190ish and de-catted, 18 month old turbo, all serviced and had a good flush.

I think I will have to sell it once its fixed just to pay off the debt it's caused trying to fix it.
