I watched and enjoyed far more of the London 2012 Olympics than I expected to and I reckon the Paralympics are going to be just as good.

Some say that the recent London Olympics were just a warm-up for these Paralympics!

Lots of you guys gonna watch too? Starts Ch4 - Opening ceremony etc tonight.

Hopefully going up week for the Cycling Time Trials at Brands Hatch.

Would love to be in the stadium for the athletics though!  :sad1:

Not sure why it's not on BBC? Maybe they thought it wasn't going to be as big as it obviously is and not commercially viable. I thought their coverage of the Olympics was excellent, let's hope Channel 4 can do it justice.

Opening ceremony was dull as dishwater really. Looking forward to some of the events. Watched a fair bit on the Paralympics from Beijing, so this should be good.

Don't normally publicise my disability but just to say I was a Swimmer at the 1984 Games (held at Stoke Mandeville) and the Canadians demonstrated this game to us whilst there I got hooked and helped to develop wheelchair Rugby (Still Murderball then) in this country retired from Active sport quite a few years ago and Rugby has come on quite a bit since but I know I'm bias but probably the best Paralympic sport to watch if you get the chance

Maximum respect to those 'disabled' who have the strength of will and character to make something of their lives regardless, be it sport or otherwise. And we/I don't put you up on a pedestal either - You can be an arsehole just like any other human being!

Spent last night on top of the stadium roof as part of the Pyrotechnic team, and have to agree the opening was really boring, especially when compared to the Olympic opening where I really did have the best seat in the house and was totally gripped by it all....

 That said I am looking forward to the events as well, some of these guys and girls are truly amazing.

Wild Bean, I think the difference might be down to the difference in money pumped into the ceremony. £27m ish for the Olympics and only £7 or 9m for the Paralmpics. The best bit for me was the head guy of the organising committee who was sitting next to the Queen was jigging around and getting into it yet she had a face like thunder.

I'm just happy the weather sorted itself out so it didn't pi$$ down.

Oh I'm going to be watching it all, got a few mates of mine in there to be cheering on like Derek and Joe (military lads) and just heard a friends boyfriend is in the murderball team. Hopefully we'll get quite a few golds! :happy2:

Hi RealThing,

I spent 6 months in Stoke in 2001 after a motor bike accident (Spinal Cord Injury T4), tried lots of sports at the Guttmann sports centre there, some of my mates went on to trial for GB in different sports.

I seemed to spend most of my time working out how to bolt an engine on to what ever I was sat in  :signLOL:
