Rev g hissing noise
« on: August 30, 2012, 07:02:34 am »
Swapped my revision d diverter valve for the g a couple of months ago. Car felt more responsive low down so  decided to leave it on. The thing is everytime I let off the gas I hear a hissing noise after the initial Pshhh u get .is this normal . Didnt get this hissing with the d revision fitted. I do have an itg intake fitted so could it be this. Don't feel Ive lost power but may have to get the car logged just to be sure.just wondered if any1 else has experienced this?

The G does make more noise than the D  :happy2:

I fitted a rev g valve to my Cupra today as I've always wondered how the rev d seals without having a seal to fully block off the boost.
Anyway the cars drives identical although I've not had chance to totally push on as yet.
But my only finding was the fairly noticeable turbo whistle/hiss I used to get with my D valve is much reduced with the G.

The only thoughts I have on this is it must have been bleeding some boost past causing the noise.

Just need to see if it's going to be reliable.

Kevs, exactly what i have always thought, there is no "real' seal there, metal on metal?..

The REV G was the original no?
D was/is the newer rev?

My car had a rev D from new.
I was under the impression the old diaphragm style was a rev C then they went to a piston style rev D and now another diaphragm style rev G so going by the letters I'd think that G is the latest most upto date?

Ah, yea, i think your right, interesting they have gone back, i assume they improved it somehow..

I do prefer the idea of the rubber seal. currently i get a bit of a "juddering" sound on full boost (wrong term i know)

Well I bought one because it was £33 delivered and I've read plenty people say how much smoother the diaphragm style operates.
Also the fact there's no seal there made me wonder.
Time will tell how much it's improved.

Over the next few days I'll be doing 300 miles so that'll give me a good test to see.
The strange thing is the rev G valve is £33 and the rev D is style £50!
