What camera are you using? Not bad shots - so just how long was Mr Pops driving around in circles for you to get these shots?

Exactly that Chris....  :happy2:

I was driving a loop at 30mph and James was panning the camera to get a moving shot.

We both have 450Ds and so it's all about learning.
Gonna try similar shots at Le Mans this weekend.

Fully manual and manual focus. T between 1/50th and 1/100th, and depth of field of 25ish

Look it up in the manual, you will have much better/more consistent results with AI servo - basically this AF mode will continually focus when the shutter is depressed half way (just like you get in the sports mode). Your shutter speeds are fine for the speeds Cocopops was going but I would suggest upping your ISO to somewhere between 600-800 for racing. Depth of field is very much dependant on how far you will be from the cars when shooting, the further away you will be the less important it will be to close down the lens (high f no's) for exposure.

Hope this helps a bit.

Dom

panning shots are amazing when you nail them crisp and clear.

at the motorsport events i go to i'm playing with shutter speeds of 1/50 or below. damn hard to get a good one but when u do you think its what photography is all about!  thank god for continuous burst mode tho...  :signLOL:
