New seats
« on: September 01, 2012, 02:28:35 pm »
Iv seen some seats a quite like, aftermarket ones as OEM are mega bucks! My current are heated, electric with airbags. If I fit the new seats that are not electric, heated or have airbags ( :signLOL:) how would i get rid of the warning lights e.g. airbag faults? Is it even possible? Cheers all  :driver:

VAG COM. error warning lights can be removed. Many people on here have it, or a second hand could set you back 200-300 ish, perhaps more. But nevertheless a good system to have for your car

Ha! Yeah. Airbag faults pop up when the steering wheel and stuff is removed when the key is turned in the ignition. How come your planning to remove comfort!?  :booty: what you replacing the seats with

Another tip that might not throw up the errors in the first place. disconnect the battery.... once installed reconnect. Just a punt but might save some hasstle

If you fit seats that are not like your old ones

You will need to code out the seat heating and remove the fuses for the heating

for the airbag, you can code it so the car knows it doesn't have seat airbag, but everytime the ignition is switched on it will pop up with a message seat airbag disabled.

The other option is this

Do 2 front seats fit in the rear of a 3 door? Im planning on reclining them as much as possible and sit them on their bases?

So iv picked my new seats up. They are OEM and not aftermarkets which is good. The plugs connected look like this...

Drivers side

Passengers Side

And my current seats which are heated and electric

Does anyone have a wiring diagram so i work out if these new ones are heated aswell? They are definitely not electric lumbar or have airbags but i am unsure on the heating side of things

So I've had a further look at the wiring and here are my findings...

New Seat - Drivers
1
2
3
4 - Black blue thin
5 - Brown thick
6
7
8
9
10 - Purple blue thick

New Seat - Passengers
1 - White thin
2 - Blue white thin
3 - Red yellow thick
4 - Purple blue thin
5 - Brown thick
6
7
8
9
10 - Purple blue thick

Old Seat - Drivers
1
2
3
4 - Black blue thin
5 - Brown thick
6
7
8 - Red black thick
9
10 - Purple blue thick

Old Seat - Passengers
1 - White thin
2 - Blue white thin
3 - Red yellow thick
4 - Purple blue thin
5 - Brown thick
6
7
8 - Red black thick
9
10 - Purple blue thick

With my old seats I also have the airbag and a smaller plug with a brown thin / purple thin wire in on each side.

So does anyone know what the red black thick wire is in 8?
What does the smaller plug do on my current seat?

 :happy2:

So i got my new underseat plug and airbag resistors. Does anyone know the part numbers for the metal connector pieces that sit inside the actual seat plug as in the above pictures? I thought the new plug would have them in but it didnt!
