Does bluefin not give correct fuelling?
« on: September 04, 2012, 11:19:53 am »
I've been running bluefin on my ed 30 for 20k plus miles now and it's been spot on. However a mate got me thinking today when he said that plug and play maps were a disaster for cars and there are issues with incorrect fueling. Could this be true? I assumed that bluefin was custom for your car???

The Bluefin map will be for your specific brand of vehicle e.g. Mk5 Golf GTI Edition 30 however that's as far as it goes. It's a generic map.

Ask your mate how he knows that your map is giving incorrect fuelling for your car.  :popcornsoda:

I think he's had some bad experiences/knows folk who have had bad experiences with plug and play devices. Saying its fine for short bursts of speed but if ur regularly driving hard the engine won't last. Just got me thinking. I could understand having that problem with an eBay special but not a reputable brand like superchips. Has anybody had any bother with bluefin in regards to mechanical damage? Jus out of curiosity, tryin to put my mind at rest here!

Don't listen to your friend, the Bosch ME7 ecu is rather advanced, it won't allow you to run too rich/lean as it has quite high levels of fuel trim ability.

Sorry, yes ME9. I type ME7 so often on my IPad that it now autocorrects when I type ME9
