Just thought I’d include my car as I’ve been on here for a year or so and seen some fantastic looking cars. Hopefully some of the changes you see here will inspire someone to a mod or two.

When you go to far modding a standard GTi sometimes it's just too late to stop and by an Eddy, you just have to keep going as it's more hassle than its worth to change everything over to the new motor
Anyway I bought the car a 2005 golf GTi in 2010 from Listers in Coventry. It was pretty tidy but the warranty and FSH swung it for me. I’ve no early pictures unfortunately, but I’m sure you’ve all seen a tornado red Golf with 17’s on before. The vehicle didn’t have many toys on it but was the lowest mileage and best nick I’d seen.
First mod was a trip to A1 wheels after buying a set of scabby 18” Monza 2’s from the forum. Loved the monza shadow look so opted for a refurb this way. Ignore the look of this place the quality of workmanship is superb. Shed the Monza’s with Good Year assymetrics. No white worm on the Monza’s yet (fingers crossed)
A1 Wheels Trip
Thats better.
Next up was a ITG maxogen setup. I should have known better about open filter noise, which after a day or so did my head in (must be my age)
Next step getting a REVO stage 1 map. Massive difference in performance
Got rid of the Maxogen open filter and install the enclosed canister arrangement. Much better noise wise but a bit more fiddly to install though.
SPS switch from REVO. Whilst having the SPS programmed they revised my stage 1 map a little along with adding different fuel settings on the switch. I particularly liked the functionality of the immobiliser REVO offer on the SPS switch. Several months on I’m still really happy with engine map.
A visit to the guys at DMR down the road from me. Only guys I’ve met off the forum so far and I know I’m repeating myself here but fantastic job. Even dropped me off at home, chauffeur driven in an RS4

Changed recirc valve from rev D to revision G.
Door lock module as near side front started playing up, great little thread written by Matto helped no end.

Full LED interior lights added along with Philips H7 headlight bulbs which made a massive difference over the standard bulbs
Rear LED number plate lights also added, unfortunately they were ridiculously bright, added a resistor in the feed line to tone them down a bit. Don't have any after photos but you can see how the ones I bought light the road up, had complaints that you couldn't read the plate because they were so bright
New stereo added next along with a canbus upgrade. Thanks to Eddie-NL for all his help.
Old and new canbus modules
Stereo then installed, love it. Couldn't justify a 510 version for the additional frills I'd rarely use. Stereo £300 off Ebay brand new with code.
Next on the list was getting the wings re-painted by Listers of Coventry. Fortunately they were very accomodating and did this FOC.
Overspray and tidying up after them and winter detail carried out by DMR, thanks again fellas, I'm sure the painters at VW must have known you would finish the job off for them
I must admit i don't have the best eye in the world for checking over paintwork so luckily DMR pointed out a few things and being the perfectioninsts they are did it all for me.
Love the moment when you pick a car up after a detail. Unfortunately the weather was Sh!te outside
Ordered a VCDS lead off Nigel 'NHN', Mrs nicked it straight away and wrapped it up for me to have on christmas day.
Early next year I'll get a downpipe for it and be rid of the pre-cat. I've also a few issues I'll get R-tech to look at if funds permit after the christmas festivities.
Plenty of stuff do as it looks like I'll keep the car for another year or so.
