Rear fog light
« on: July 14, 2012, 08:41:59 pm »
I have a jetta (don't shoot me it is a 2.0 tfsi) and it has asymetrical rear lights. LHS reverse, RHS fog.

My question is.............

Can I fit a LHD LHS light (with clear lense) but with a red bulb? legally I mean.

I fancy getting symetrical if possible.

I been waiting for a chap in Belgium to come back to me on the LED boards for doing the Skyline mod. I was then going to do the above so I would have 2 reverse lights and then the outer ring of the inner lights would act as rear driving lights and/or fog lights so I would have 2 fog lights too.

I did it the over way, when I changed my rear lights I put the red lens out of fog light and put it in where the clear lens is for  the reverse light is,know it shows red when I reverse  :rolleye:

I wondered about that as well, but as I use my reversing light more than my fog I'm not sure. Did you have any problems at MOT time?

Done this now and have symmetry at last. Used a silver/red bulb and looks ok but considering a red LED.

anyone used a red LED? are they very bright?

id consider myself a bit of an LED Freak, OCD LED   and ive looked into this.

i wouldn't bother at the moment, as theyre just way too dim.

the brightest CREE LED is even a waste of time. maybe in a couple of years!

its the same for the reverse light. just not bright enough for any proper use.

hope that helps!

Thom
