NEWBI HELP!!
« on: June 29, 2013, 10:45:23 pm »
Hi guys new to vw ownership but serviced a few in the past!,
I have a 2.0 gt tdi 140 /2009 58rg) with some (i believe common probs) Rear inner tyre wear with tyre noise like woosh'ing increasing with speed, This could be the type of tyres fitted or track/camber problems as mentioned, Is there a recall or some compensation for what i believe to be a factory problem with the rear camber???, Ive also noticed what looks like an oil cooler at the front r/h underside facing the road, does this need any drainind or service whilst im doing the oil change?? it looks simular to the nut of the oil filter but  upside down?, Last but not least i have a bump like sound when turning left/right in for instance car parks, sharp left or right, seems to be coming from the front L/H side, any ideas, is this common, ball joint/wishbone?, any help would be gratfully recieved, Ive owned vauxhall for many many years & now understand why golfs/vw's are so popular!!. many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the sooty club :happy2:
The wear on the rear tyres is common on the golf but it can be adjusted on the rears. The knocking could be a few things ie top shocker mount or cv joint-anti roll bar link

Thanks for the replies guys, Id heard there was a revised setting by vw so didnt want to rush in without info (local vw want £54 to laser it), I have looked at the anti roll bar bushes & they look good, It goes 'bump' on tight turns so putting it over a pit tomoz to look into it, Any other sugested areas to look at, common problems?, Any info regarding the (what looks like the oil cooler) at the front l/h side as im doing the oil tomoz & would do this aswell if its required?, I also presume the bung in the front of the gearbox is the 'level/top up bung?, Thanks in advance!.

the tracking will sort the tyre wear out-the oil cooler pipes will have slight oil in but doesn't need changing

Sorry if i wasn,t clear on the 'cooler', its not a pipe/s, its an alloy block with a cap/nut the same as the oil filter on it but facing downwards?, does this need draining/cleaning at all, here's a pic, need info as doing oil in the morn!. this will have a 'o' ring seal like the oil filter so need info to replace please!.

A pic of the oil filter & said item/'nut' below, albeit this is a 1.9 in the pic its apparent the 2.0 is the same, any info regarding servicing this item? (oil cooler), & seal/o ring required when the nut is undone?.
