Mid June I lost oil pressure on the m25, I had the car recovered and I removed the sump and balance shaft to see what had happened, basically the chain that connects the crank to the balance shaft has snapped..
I have bought the chain however you need to remove the crank pulley and a part of the engine to replace it
I'd say I'm 65% mechanically minded, I know what I'm doing or there abouts
Obviously because the car ran for a while with no oil, I cannot guarantee that the engine hasn't suffered permanent damage
I need to buy a locking tool in order to remove the crank pully
Would you:
Replace the chain, forever wonder why it snapped in the first place and hope all is well
Get a new engine, although it could be another ticking time bomb
This engine is just under 90k send it somewhere to get rebuilt with some better internals and chase hp?
All are expensive, potential option 1 could be time expensive too!
