Alarm going off ever night!
« on: September 09, 2012, 04:33:08 pm »
Hi all. Just after bit of advice till my car goes to specialist on Wednesday. Need to try and avoid upsetting neighbours anymore as my alarm goes off in middle of night. Prob faulty sensor will know when vagcom plugged in.
Just need to know which fuses if any I can take out to stop the siren. Not worried if lights flash etc for a few days.
Would fuse 12 internal fuse box do the trick? Possibly 35 as well?
Please pm me if you don't want to reply with info online.
Thanks.

Not sure what fuse it is but this has happened to me before and it was a faulty siren.

A VCDS log will tell you the last four triggers, it may also be a sensor as you suspect.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

If there is no fuse then can I disconnect just the siren? I think I remember reading somewhere it's behind one of the wheel liners. Must be something I can do as a temp fix.

i don't think pulling the fuse will stop it.
the fuse will be a 5A (fuse 35) or (fuse 17)

Its inside the drivers side front arch but you'll have to drill out the rivets on the bracket to release it so you are able to disconnect it

Mine died about a month ago, had to buy one huge rivett gun for the 6x10 rivetts that hold the cage in place

I know it's stupid, luckily a mate got me some rivets from where he works and my work has got battery and 110v powered rivet guns so used the battery one and that struggled

Why not just disconnect the battery?

Well I've pulled all the fuses I can find associated with alarm etc. on a positive note it has forced me to tidy up the garage and move some flat pack wardrobes to house I've been putting off putting together lol!
Car now in garage so at least if it does go off should cut down sound a bit. Roll on Wednesday and hopefully get sorted. Not much more I can do tonight.
Thanks for all the input. Sounds like its prob the alarm module.

Might be something silly, like the washer hose leaking/popping off the rear wiper - p***es all over the boot lock and buggers with the alarm.
Sideways yo!
