Which stage 1
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:01:36 pm »
Hi,

Sorry that my first post could be a can of worms.  I'm wanting to get a stage one for my 2008 TFSI and I feel quite lost as to where to turn! Is there a general consensus on which company is best to get this from? I'm not interested in peak figures, just how the car goes. I assume that every company has different characteristics on their remap. Lots of folks seem to have REVO, shark and APR also fairly popular, blue is kicking about in there too.

If anybody could explain the differences it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Find a local specialist first and see what they offer, then go from there.

Whereabouts are you located, someone local might be able to give you some advice abouts where to go :happy2:
Are you going to stick with a stage 1 remap, or will you possibly be buying exhausts, hpfp etc in the future?

I'm based near stirling but also spend some time in northern ireland. There is a revo specialist in stirling, APR near by, shark not too far away and an AMD place northern ireland. Then bluefin offer a mail order system. So really it is just a matter of who to pick and go to! I'm pretty sure I will stick with stage 1 but may add an exhaust when my stock one gives up.

thanks

I have contacted a few places and many talk the talk and quote very different performance figures for the remap! I suppose what I want to ask is what company for my stage 1 map is the best? There also seems to be quite a difference in price across the board. I know there are many happy revo and shark customers on this forum so is there much of a difference between these maps?

I have the superchips bluefin and at stage 1 it was perfect

When I went to stage 2 I had fuel cut issues, they have toned down the map but to be honest it really needs setting up properly at stage 2 which a local revo dealer can offer. mine just goes flat now above 5k rpm

A stage one remap will give you roughly the same power regardless of the tuner. Both Shark and Revo are reputable tuners and as you said Shark are closer (and IIRC theyre cheaper), that sounds like the way to go  :happy2:

Don't forget to let us know your thoughts once you get it mapped.  :happy2:

Revo did do. You'll have to ask them. R-tech also can give you linear throttle as I'm sure Dave can at PDT!
