Airbag issue - any help?
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:15:18 am »
Folks

I have had a few issues with an airbag warning light which i put down to putting the baby seat in the back and having to move the passenger seat.

Thing is that i have been to a garage this morning and the light wont be switched off - the guy said he had done a fix before and it cost £400!!!!

Does this sound right? Anyone had an issue like this with theirs?

I have MOT today so it will fail as this light is on.

cheers

I had my air bag light turned off by a local VW specialist non dealer charged me a fiver as i forgot to turn the ignition off when removing the steering wheel airbag, while the light was on as a precaution I did the wire solder and have had no issues since :)

If it is a three door the problem is caused by the act of repeatly moving the seat which over time loosens the airbag connector. As Eddie mentioned the two options are to either remove the plug and hard solder the wires together or get a replacement plug and replace it.

Very easy to do but if you give us a hint as to where you are MAYBE somebody will help for the price of a couple of beers :)
