heard this story before - same with the eggs one.
whilst i doubt it is a regular occurrence, it's easy enough to do so i'm sure it has happened before.
another one is a lone female in the house, hears a baby crying outside her front door. she calls the police instead of opening the door because apparently a serial killer was using this trick to bait people into opening the door. again, i doubt it has happened but it's easy enough to imagine.
