Anyone witness a D DV failing yet?
« on: September 21, 2012, 11:20:49 pm »
This evening for about a total of 10 miles my car was down a good 80-100 bhp. Even when driving off through 2nd and 3rd gear low down power was down too. Engine was running good and no missfires and idling fine. It wasn't limp mode because the power  suddenly came back ( didn't switch engine off and on ). Also when i scanned afterwards no fault codes were registered. Any ideas what caused this?

Normally if the dv is failing you should get a P0299 fault code for underboosting. The D can leak and that was proved by Nick at Rtech. I swapped back to the G and never looked back since. Has it done it since writing your post?

Nick had a photo of him smoke testing a "D" and you could see it wasn't air tight  :sad1:

A handful of people have also had them fail (not sure how you can tell without VCDS logs)

I haven't driven the car today yet to see. When my original G failed i never got a fault code. My D valve has over 70k on it now, piston maybe worn on it, hope that's all it is!

I would swap it for a g as they are revised and much stronger. I see you are K04 and others with the same turbo and running 340ish bhp have the g fitted with no reported failings yet.
