Rear Light Help

My drivers 30 ed rear light was misted up so I taken it off and used a hairdryer to dry it out... My being a complete idiot had melted where the bulb holdster goes so it doesn't fit.... so the irony is now when it rains my lights going to be drenched

My question is, could I take off the front and switch it with a crappy standard light or is it best just buying a new light?

.............mine does the same mate & my old GTI did the same.Just left it & it clears on it's own.

I would leave it but I've melted the part were the bulb holder pushes onto the light so I'm gonna need a new one
