Black GTI with different colour splitter? Ideas and pics?
« on: June 10, 2009, 01:52:34 pm »
Hello all - been a while since I posted as the new baby has kept me busy!
Anyway, as the title suggests, I wanted your thoughts about painting or vinyling the front splitter a different colour on a black Ed30.

It's easy on any other colour apart from black, as you can just paint it black or cover it in CF vinyl and it looks good. :happy2:
I've seen Greenouse paint his red and it looks ok - I was thinking to maybe colour it a dark graphite or the same colour as the Ed30 wheels? Maybe even CF vinyl it but not sure if this would be too subtle?
Has anybody seen this done or have any pics they could share?

Your thoughts and input always appreciated!

SteveP has had his front splitter wrapped in Matte black, check out his pics. (his car is Grey)

Very subtle though. I've thought about re-doing mine in CF but worried it would be too subtle?  :happy2:

Yes my car is black and hence the uncertainty.
It's easy on a non-black car and looks lovely!
I was even thinking to get it done an alloy silver effect like on the new Audi TTRS ??

That's quite stylish - And it would match the interior door trims etc too.

Thanks for that - it doesn't look bad actually!
I prob wouldn't do the mirrors as it may look like an S3 wannabe!
Maybe I'll have a play with some coloured vinyl and see what it looks like in the flesh...

There's someone on here who has a black MKV and they painted the splitter silver. Looked alright to me.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Hope this helps, imo better looking then plain vinyl

Back end incase you were thinking, but there are issues when applying to plastic getting it too adhere, if you are thinking of doing the back.

You have a black car, maybe worth finding out if a silver version of it might be available.

What about an anthracite colour? Along with the grill?

Something along the lines of this colour combination?

I'm tempted to do it rather than matte black the grills, chin spoiler and rear cut out (providing i have the skirts, spoiler and valance colour coded).
