4 wheel alinment issues

Stock hubs and wishbones?

If so, the only camber adjustment is a by product of the toe position unless the subframe is moved slightly to centralise things. To my knowledge it is only the TT wishbones that are designed for camber adjustment.

What are your tyres like on the front? Uneven wear can cause "pull".

Don't front top mounts also allow camber adjustment? Though it would seem to be unlikely that this car has been fitted with them.

Yeah everything is stock bar the shocks and springs (bilsten and eibach) and its new strut top mounts all round too

The tyres are all like new (only coverd 4000miles on them and no uneaven wear)

So should they not of touched the bottom ball joint nuts? And left them to the factory torque specs?

....Sorry, I should have given more information  . I meant the aftermarket top mounts such as by KW and Ground Control.

For all that's in the camber I can't see it being the cause of it pulling, in my experience a car pulling is due to incorrect toe.

So, who have you now spoken to and what's the latest in sorting out your problem?

Overton is the name of the garage that done the alinment.

I spoke to the garage that done the bal joint and they said that it is is not adjustable and should only be set to the correct torque.


I dropped the car off to them this morning and asked them to just torque the ball joint nuts to VW s spec as the camber is not adjustable on a mk5 golf. And to check the toe is straight. The boy wasn't too happy.

Not heard anything yet but if it is not sorted I will be asking to see a manager to get a refund and get somewhere else to sort it out properly.

Not too happy that they denied it could of been wrong straight away without even looking at the car

....Those words don't exactly inspire confidence or trust in that garage. I thought you said you trusted them.

Do you know what sort of alignment rig Overton use? Hopefully either a Hunter Laser Rig or Beissbarth rig. They should not have completed the job and charged you while the ball joint issue was present.

Sorry it was the place that done the alinment that I dropped the car back off to today.

The garage that done the ball joint just told me that they should not of touched the ball joint nuts to adjust the camber as the cars front camber cannot be adjusted

Past couple of times I've used GT tyres in Forres for my 4 wheel alignment. Might be too far for you tho. Apparently the Golf can be adjusted 3 ways they charge for each adjustment. Last time I was around the £90 mark.
Clark's Motorsport in Kintore are meant t be good aswell. Was it them you couldn't get a hold of for 4 weeks?
