Valeo led rears. Help needed. Coding req???!
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:03:13 pm »
Just fitted my valeo l.e.d rears. Fitted up nicely and clipped all connections back in with ease. Started car up and turned light on and voila no lights. Warning light is on, and on highline comp it is saying that all of the lights on the outer lights are inoperable. Do i need to code these? Just read the for sale part and the guy says they are 100% working and that they are plug and play.   any ideas anyone

I had the same lights and fitted them myself on the ed30 Gaz. They are definitely, 100% plug and play.

I would also use vcds and uncheck cold diagnosis for brake light, turn signal and rear parking lights. According to Eddie-NL this should prevent premature failure of the leds.

As said: Plug-n-Play.

Just check that you have the foglight lens on the driver's side and reversing light lens on the passenger's side. Easy swop if needed.

They are plug and play but on mine Eddie NL coded out the bulb monitoring on the brake, rear lights and rear indicators as they could burn out the led's. I'll try and find the thread where he posted

....Are you saying that they should be 'coded out'?

It's not necessary but for longevity of the leds, coding out the cold diagnosis of brake, rear lights and rear indicators may be beneficial.

The cold diagnosis is that where you see the LEDs flicker when the car is first turned on as I seen RR's do this

....I don't quite understand - My LED's flicker when my car is first turned on, and it's better that this doesn't happen?

I might be paying you another visit!

Yeah better they don't as I believe it sends a wave of voltage to check resistance in bulbs which may damage LEDs
