Which way round to J-hook discs go?
« on: August 15, 2012, 03:02:48 pm »
I had J-hook discs previously and they were fitted with the tail of the 'J' pointing backwards. My thought was that this would be best to eject dust, water and crud. However, I have seen TFSI-Mike's on another thread as well as others (VRS_Carl) who had the discs swapped one side to the other such that the tail of the 'J' pointed forwards.

Here is a picture from my old car - you can just about see the orientation...

Here is a pic from TFSI-Mike's....

So which is right?

I would say mikes got it right/better. The hook will have a better sweep of the pad the way he has them facing I would say

The orientation of the hooks are not that important, its the direction of the internal veins in the discs. If the veins are not 'sided' then its really just an aesthetic matter.

I was under the impression I had it wrong but the rotors aren't 'sided' with directional vanes so it shouldn't matter
