This raises the interesting question of what percentage of GTI owners are 'enthusiasts'? (Defining people like us as 'enthusiasts').

Judging by the percentage of other GTI drivers I see on the road who don't acknowledge a wave (or is it simply English reserve?), it's a sad indication. I guess that for some, the GTI badge only indicates a different model of Golf and merely satisfies their badge snobbism.

i would say compared to say a Ford ST forum or Seat cupra we are way way behind in the percentage stakes, its something i have noticed since buying the GTi

Put it this way Robin, I have two Golf GTI's on my fleet and when I see the state they let these cars get into I realise it was more of a badge thing than an enthusiasts choice.

It's a shame but hopefully the second owners of these company cars will be buying them for what they are and joining us here  :happy2:

Hi Nathan,

I spoke to Nigel this morning - Extremely helpful chap - I wanted to two-tone (black on the inserts) powdercoat my Monza 18's, but it's not possible to get a clean line as it's all painted.

However, I'm going to visit them to check out their colours.

....I'm booked in with Nigel on Wednesday lunchtime > Swop onto my spare set of 17's > Decide the shade of Smoked Chrome > Swop back onto my newly powdercoated Monza 18's on Saturday morning on my way to the meet near Stafford.

Couldn't be better!

Thanks to you, Nathan, and the networking power of this forum! :grouphug:

Trouble is that my car is filthy!! and she might not be clean by next Saturday!

So Robin, your having the inserts painted darker and then the outside face will also be painted (powercoat) then?  Sound just what I want for my original wheels - look forward to seeing them.
