A short Love affair but ED30 must go.
« on: June 11, 2009, 06:53:53 pm »
 .

Well the wife told me a couple of days ago that Mini-Me number 2 is on the way   :jumpmove:

This is awesome news for us but somewhat unexpected. My wife was due to return to work anytime now as our first child has just hit 10 months old. This means that we need to economise and get a bigger more family orientated car, so the ED30 must go

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5407.0

Can't be too sad really as a car is just that and a few of our friends are struggling to have children, IVF is not that successful unfortunately. Anyway, I realise many users on here are still in their twenties and probably wonder what this old fart is going on about but hey-ho. If you know anyone looking for a nice ED30 point them in my direction please  :happy2:

We've been up to VW this afternoon and the Touran is a van with windows   the Tiguan is nice though.

We've decided to sell both cars, her's is a 2004 Audi A4 convertible, get a nice family/camping sized car and something smaller and cheaper to run as a second car, maybe an older Golf Tdi or a Fabia Vrs.

Firstly, many congrats to you both

Secondly, FWIW, I bought a Scooby when we had kids!!! LOL!!! Wifey bought the justification of 4 doors!! :jumping: Got a wagon to put the pram/buggy etc in.
Then as they grew up a bit, got a saloon

Then went to an Audi S4 Avant.

Now have a GTI 3dr.

All in the space of 9 years

Next car may have to be a 5dr something (Golf), as I fear I may have the same grief that RedRobin had from his daughter (the dignity issue of getting in and out of a 3dr!!! :jumping: )

Why not look at a Passat R36  in estate form

RS4 Avant

I'd love too, but needs to be economical as wifey not going back to work now so we've lost circa £38k annual income for probably next 3 - 4 years (which is a lot for me to make up - hence the need for low cost)

You right, its the caddy with windows and some extra seat, but my thinking is now the wife has the family car this means I am not limited to what I have ... eh, good thinking!!

Let your other half see the top gear review about the mk5 gti again (YouTube), you being particulalry quiet at the bit where clarkson extols the virtues of the practicalities of the car to a family man   :signLOL:and you'll be saving the environment too..... That's a wonderful lesson for junior True Blue  :innocent:

Congrats anyway to you both.

Mmm, well all may not be lost.

Showed SWMBO some pic's of modified Tourans on the Touran forum and she liked them.

I may be able to do a bit of a compromise with her - if I let her use the golf for local stuff and I use the Touran for longer business trips we may be able to keep our fuel bills down and still have a decent family wagon for weekends away.

It's sounding a bit like a plan, but I may still need to free up a bit of cash depending on what her A4 sells for so it could be that I need to trade the ED30 back down to a Gti. I'll leave the for sale add up for now though as I'd still sell outright at this point as we are still considering our options.

Still considering all options
