Double Buggies and Roof Boxes
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:13:23 am »
In a desparate attempt to keep my car, can anyone tell me if a Double buggy push chair will fit in the boot of a golf and if so how much extra room this leaves ?

Also does anyone have experience of using a large roof box? do they really give loads more storage space and are they easy to fit and use without damaging the car ?

Cheers.
Octavia Vrs MKII - KO4, forge twintercooler, S3 Injectors, APR HPFP, RS4 FP Valve, Pipeworx 3'' DP and Sports cat, Piper non res exhuast, ITG Maxogen, Quaife Dif, sachs clutch kit, NQSBBBK with RS4-2 pads, H&R SS Coilovers with adjustable koni inserts.
Good for 328 BHP on JKM's rollers !!

Do you mean the buggy where the seats are side to side, or one in front of the other??

I had a double buggy at one point, until my older daughter decided she wanted to walk everywhere about a month after buying it!! lol
I do still have it and have had it in the boot once or twice. Dont really use it now so am trying to sell it - I'd be happy with enough money for a tank of fuel

Anyway, the buggy is a Graco Stadium Duo - hence it has one seat in front of the other. It fits into the boot with ease - the boot really is bigger then I initially thought!
I would also still have room for shopping etc to go on top of it.

This is the pushchair I have......

If you can wait until the weekend, I'll try and take a pic of it in the boot if you want, to give you an idea of how much space it takes, and how much is spare for shopping etc?

In regards to the buggy - it was great! The back seat goes down flat, for a new baby - or you can attach the baby carrier straight onto the back seat - hence you dont have to take baby out of the carrier when putting him/her in the car etc.

Nevertheless, as I said, the pushchair fits in fine and leaves good space for several shopping bags etc.

I use a Roof box when we go camping, without it we just wouldn't fit everything in!
It's a Kamei Corvara 390L and they are made in Wolfsburg, the same town as the VW plant, I think they must share the same paint, as it is a perfect match for my steel grey GTI!!
It is attached via Thule roof bars, which do not leave any marks on the roof.
BTW these boxes have come top in the Auto Express product test for the last 2 years running.
Only got one pic of it on the car (and not a very good one at that)

Hi, my wife is out this evening, but I'll show her this in the morning as we may well have it off you but as a 'man' I can't be trusted to make such an important decision

@ sixpot, didnt know you where into ''the old camping'' spot on.

Our roof bars/box will be going on the car on friday next week as we are going france (again) tha bars are LOGO
Vws own (ebay) 55 squid, before i put them on i put tape on the area of the feet fit, and always get the misses to help
to avoid damage, the front ones fit into a little hole in the top of the door jam, you take out a little plastic screw
next time you open your door have a look, top centre. that way the bars carnt move with speed/wind.
if its 5dr theres 2 little indents to give a guide, top centre.
our box is halfords own 390ltr (for sale board missis work) 45 squid, inside is a sticker ''and if i remember its kamei''

we get everything but the kitchen sink in it.
