Another VW indie you can trust
« on: September 11, 2012, 05:51:37 pm »
Just had some work done on the GTI today by these guy's
www.vgsuk.com
Very friendly and chatty enthusiasts like you and me.
Ex vw techies, All parts used are genuine vag parts,
But much lower prices on all types of work.

I had Revo DSG Map done, also brake fluid service, and new tyres fitted.

I can second this recommendation - they've been nothing but professional, courteous, knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW.
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.

I also never knew of them, quite close to me as well
Just called them up to get prices etc. as I'm due a service in December, as well as a DSG service.
The guy I spoke to (Lee) was very friendly and helpful.
He was shocked to hear about how I knew about them, and was really interested in the forum, so I guess there will be a new forum member very shortly, as he's keen to thank Captain Britain and Conekiller  :happy2:

my car is in today.
I dropped the car last night and they guys down there (Lee and Peter) are extremely helpful, Peter dropped me at the station too.  Peter is a big mk5 gti enthusiast and seems incredibily knowledgable.
I will let you know how it goes....

600 bucks.....thought that was ok for the work.

Just picked up the car. I have to say Peter and Lee are both fantastic blokes, they dropped me off and picked me up at the station.  Nothing was a hassle and they answered all the daft questions I had in non tech speak which is a massive help.

The rear two tyres had uneven wear all over them, down to the limit at the edge but 6mm in the middle and the tread depth went up and down which was weird.  They car had had suspension work, new springs, at the front so it looked like the front tyres had been put on the back previously and new ones went on the front post the suspension work.
What a difference with the new tyres and with the wheel beating fixed. It's drives completely differently and so much better.

Yes it was more expensive than I thought as I didn't think I needed new tyres or the wheel bearing but that's life.

I wouldn't hesitate to take recommend the guys at vgs and I will take my car back or everything and anything it needs.

Plus the fact he gave the car a complete inspection and noticed some charcoal thing was disconnected when it shouldn't hav been.

Honestly, this place is great.
