This gives a good overview of the differences between a cast alloy wheel and a forged wheel -

As well as my concerns on strength I'd also be worried that if you do damage a wheel, say 12-months down the line, there may be no guarantee you'd be able to replace it with an identical replica. They do vary quite dramatically.
thank you for the link will check it out, i see your point regarding the difficulty if needing 1 more wheel, fortunatelly i know where they came from only 20 miles away the company but i agree i do not know durability etc on them, one of the reasons i joined this forum to find things like this out, i genuinelly only put dealer parts on my old golf and my wifes and dont touch anything after market - even down to the spark plugs but when i bought this car they put new wheels on it and would be silly for me to just disreggard them but i will keep an eye on their wear,,,, i still may buy original shadow ones and sell these before i get any marks on them but i will think it over,,,,, what do you think a realistic price would be for me to sell the set i have ?
they are 1 week old, no flaws i can see, 18 normal monzas with the diamond cut etc and they have a set of michelin on them all matching with around 4mm of even wear on them,,,,, may help me contribute if i change the whole wheels and tyres
any help appreciated
