will my alloys fit?
« on: October 03, 2012, 10:04:23 am »
currently looking at a set of 3sdm's.

the gent who i'm buying them from has asked if i need spacers for them too...

the wheel specs are as follows:

Front wheels: ET45
18x8.5j - 205/40/18

Back wheels: ET45
18x9.5j - 225/40/18

i have a mk5 golf 1.9tdi SE. i will be getting coilies before these go on but i want to make sure i got the right set up before i delve in and buy such items if my set-up is not complete...

unfortunately I'm not experienced in this at all, hense my post.

could any1 tell me if i am going to encounter problems putting these straight on? i know i will have to do the arch liner screw delete in order to prevent rubbing but will that be enough for the wheels stated above?

any info would be much appreciated as i dont want to spend the money on something which isnt going to do the job i want!

thanks in advance!   :happy2:

You'll struggle with 9.5 on the rear. The wheels are physically too wide unless you don't mind running poke or camber.

If you run 8.5 on all corners you'll be fine. You won't need spacers

i dont mind them poking out and the tyres are slightly stretched.

the chap is saying i may want spacers for the front wheels to give it a better stance?

I'm new to all of this so i aint got a clue!  :scared:

I'm afraid I'm one for a functional set up rather than big wheels and low for the sake of being low. I'm sure someone else will be along to help shortly :happy2:

Good luck

pretty much the same set up as these:

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,47401.0.html

iv spotted a few mk5 golf's with these wheels on with the same set up so i think i should be ok.

if any1 who has had a set of these or is experienced in these kinds of set ups any info would be great!
