Extreme camber
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:59:55 pm »
Followed a black Mk5 with rear wiper delete (not the best weather today for that!) and the apparent latest craze of extreme negative camber on his rear chrome wheels. The wheels were way out of the arches. It looked absolutely gash! it was debadged, but wasn't a gti.
Sorry I'd love to have a photo but I was driving.

Maybe I'm just old and uncool but it was despicably distasteful

your probably going to hate me for saying this but i see the appeal of mega lows and camber. And i think it suits the mk5's shape as well. But i won't do it to mine as i've been there before and you just can't drive it properly. As much fun as throwing sparks through a town centre is you can't ever relax on a country road without looking for the slightest defect in the tarmac.

I suppose gti owners tend to be a little conservative. The car that leaves the factory is fairly subtle and understated, compared to vxr, st, etc. which appeals to a certain type of buyer.

So I suppose we shouldn't be surprised when lads want to make it less 'boring'...there is no accounting for taste!

I'm with you, looks ridiculous IMHO. Count me in with being old and uncool  :happy2:

Just don't get it, the bloke in this clip thinks the same!

With the roads in Hampshire. I need a 4x4. Instead, i lowered my car. I like a small ammount of camber, but as above. there is a line
