If you have an ED30 with an armrest...
« on: September 26, 2012, 01:07:51 pm »
... any chance you can check / confirm if it has red stitching or not please?

Was stuck in traffic earlier so was sat there, admiring the interior of the ED30 (as you do)... red stiching on steering wheel -check, hand brake cover - check, gear knob gaitor -check, seats -check, arm rest..erm no...

Its a shame if that how it left the factory as it would have been a nice touch to have the armrest with red stiching as well!

Cheers

Rich

My ED30 also does not have red stitching on the armrest. It would be a nice though.

No it doesn't and I agree it would have been nice to have red stitching there too.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

when i first noticed, i immediately assumed that the previous owner may have swapped a red stiched one for a normal one as surely VW would have supplied it with red stitching -theres red stitching everywhere else FFS!

That has got me thinking.... from the point of view of a leather trimmer / upholster, how difficult would the job be to replace the grey stitching with red stitching? Saying that, how difficult is it to remove the leather trim / cover from the arm rest lid???

Coming from a 19yr old with about 20 seconds sewing machine experiance. The armrest isnt that big and i would say sub 100 for it to be re trimmed. Look around for quotes :)

Getting mine done in red soon, as the stitching is coming out.

The seats don't have red stitching on the very outer parts either.
