Does anyone know where I can get shortened pressed number plates that are legal for a 5 digit/letter plate?

I don't think anything that isn't a standard size plate is legal, no matter how many letters.  I have a 75% plate and have never been pulled.

Don't know about pressed plates but I just bought a normal shortened plate from these guys. I think its legal with all the correct spacing and the BS details are on it too...

As lonmg as spacing iss correct between numbers and letter it makes no difference how long (wide) the plate is, my mum has had her private plate (1 number 3 letters) on various cars over the years and its only 11" long

If you've got a number plate with fewer letters you can have shortened plates. The rules apply to the border around the characters which has to be above a certain size but that same size applies whether you have a 7 character plate or a 2 character one.

As above, plate my ride or eBay are good places to look.

Doesn't say on this but as long as you also have at least 11mm from the last letter/number to the edge of the plate and same at front then it's fine.   :happy2:

Yeah they are legal as long as you keep normal font size and an 11mm border. Don't fancy sending off the documents, but may try one of the local dealers shown on that website. Thanks guys.

having phoned around a few plate makers i noticed some are wanting reg docs etc ent to them ? and some dont,,,, whats that all about, i received my new plates yesterday with no documents and i done that a few years ago also with my old car, so whats sending the docs etc off to them all aboutb then???
i simply checked with them that my plate choice was legal - and it was - so job done, 24hrs later i got my plates through the post, went for the carbon raised letter gel plates ( now legal ) and they look sooooo much better
