3dr or 5dr?

Hatchback, saloon, estate, small MPV?

Would certainly help rule in or out a lot of cars if you know what you want or don't want.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Ideally a 3 door would consider 5.

Needs to be reliable return fairly good mpg.

Look sporty, ideally leather hatchback

I appreciate we are on a volkswagen forum and you have mentioned a 3 door, but my vote goes for a mondeo st tcdi, your budget would get you one of the best out there. Just an idea.... :happy2:

How many miles do you do per year? Unless its 20k+ its not really worth it imho, dervs cost considerably more to fix when they break!!

Also, buying a diesel, to then spend the money you save modifying it? Why dont you just buy a Gti and spend the mod money on fuel instead  :happy2:

I disagree,

My GTI I get around 20/25 mpg around town, when I had a Derv GT TDI I was doing 40/45 around town. And then on a 200 mile trip, the GTI does 35 ish with normal driving and 15 when putting foot down, but the Derb did 55 on long runs, and 40+ when pushing it!

Big difference.

Modern day petrols in a none sporty engine say a corsa 1.2 or focus 1.6 are very good on juice.

Big difference in price when the derv breaks as well though ... maybe its different with the Gti as you have turbo's etc to break, but with an NA petrol engine, there are no high pressure fuel pumps, injectors, turbos, etc to cr4p themselves and cost you £1500 to fix
