Looking at a newish car for a lovely young lady

I'm going to look at a Seat Leon today, it's for my Good womans younger Sister

Just would like a heads up, as to anything i should be looking out for...

Its lowered on coilovers & a remap to 173bhp

I have the VCDS to check over any fault codes...

But at this year of a car, there is bound to be some faults

Can only comment from my own experience of owning a similar aged 2.0 TDI.

Check the turbo isn't 'wooing' too much & 'whooshing' on boost.

Feel for DMF/clutch vibrations, if the clutch hasn't been replaced I would try factor it into negotiations as it'll be due one (OEM/Sachs is ~£450 for DMF & clutch plus fitting).

Has the cambelt and water pump been done? Should have been in 2010 at the latest.

When you shut off the engine, see if it's smooth. I recently replaced my intake manifold flap as it was juddery on shutdown (£150 and easy DIY).

Otherwise, typical things to look for.

I got a younger Altea for my mrs and it had a leak from the rear wiper, I believe the Leon uses the same poor connection so test the rear wiper system so that it gets full spray and is not leaking into the boot.

As for the cambelt at what millage should it have been changed over, i take it is is 4 years or xxxxx miles

the rear wipper can this be fixed ok?

Cambelt & kit is recommended for 60,000 miles or 4 years, so it should have had it done.

The rear jet is not the issue as such, it's actually where the washer tubing joins behind the plastic boot panel...it can come free & leak but is easy to pop back in with long nose pliers.

Also think there were issues with door rubbers leaking, so look out for that.

Well it didnt go to well, a sh*t load of faults came up...

It seemed the intake manifold flap motor was just one of them

You for selling up  she was after a golf but took a liking to the leons so...

Na the other leon was using coolant, 4 glow plug problems 1 in each cylinder & so on

Damn I thought the porous head problem was rectified by 06 plates.
May have been something else.

I've seen glowplug faults come up on a friends Altea after the battery had gone flat.

Yeh young women like the styling of the Leon.

Thinking of selling up as I've only done ~5k this year, best car I've ever had and it's proving a problem actually going through with selling it.

In around a budget of 5k - 6k

She would like it to have the BTCC kit on it & a nice set of wheels, as getting it lowered would'nt be a problem...

Must be reliable!
