RIGHT!... i've had enough...
« on: June 13, 2009, 01:10:32 pm »
As per this thread http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4289.msg83398#msg83398

I've decided I can't live with flat spots in power delivery anymore from the SC stage 2 modified map. I've just booked my car into AmD in Essex for Wednesday for a bit of a session.

They are going to fit an Autotech High Pressure Fuel Pump and we're going to try that with the unmoddified stage 2 Bluefin map from SC to see if it's okay. If it's not a Revo Stage 2+ map is going on...

It could be an expensive day out   :driver:

I was going to say, aren't you based in Holland?

That will be an expensive day out!  I thought JD Engineering would be your choice?

Yep JD Engineering are in NL.. JD want 1140 Euro just for a remap and I suspect I'd pay the same again for a HPFP fitted... and it would need to be ordered.

It's all about Timing,  Availability, VAT pricing / Euro v Pound v Dollar + Parts being actually on the shelf - It all adds up to using a British VAG tuner.

It's 60 Euro all in to go through EuroTunnel and AmD Technik are only 1 hour 20 away from Folkstone.

I'm from the UK and communication about subjective feeling stuff is just 'easier'.

Anyway... if anyone is in the neighborhood of AmD on Wednesday and fancies a quick meet... I'll be at their place from around 10:00am.

I thought you had fixed your flat spots.  :chicken:
AMD have a good reputation Neil M uses them all the time.

JD in Holland also do a stage 8

I see in this months Golf+ that JD wrote the GTi off on circuit apparently setting some of the fastest laps then wollop, pushing abit too hard spun the golf and over it went it was a right state.

Sorry for the off topic, hope you get it sorted Mark

SC fixed the fuel cut and the DTCs I was getting by knocking the boost curve down on their stage 2 map for me. But having driven the car a bit since then I can still sense the car "coming and going" a bit through 5000 rpm. It's like they knocked back in the danger zone of 2400 to 4400 and then let it back out again and then reign it back in again approaching 5500 rpm - so you get that flat spot feeling, which is a shame.

If (IF!!!!) , with the addition of the fuel pump, the car drives well on the standard SC map - i.e. nice and linear with no flat spots and certainly no fuel cut, then I'll keep it on the car but (BUT!!!!), if not, then I'll either have AmD custom map it or have them install the Stage 2+ Revo software to get what I'm looking for.

Yeah, I just emailed them on the off-chance noticing that they supplied Revo as well.. they have the Autotechs on the shelf and charge including fitting  GBP 399+ Vat .  - Which I think is pretty good.

Well, with 500HP I'm sure it was a bit of a handful.  :scared:  :driver:
